A fitness studio in Netanya owned by two young men, who started from a small personal training studio and came to me as they were about to grow and lease a 260 m² space. The original space was like a blank canvas and I planned it according to the program I received at the beginning of the project. I was asked to plan two studios – a small one for personal training and a bigger one for groups. Because I was requested to maintain eye contact between the two studios and between the small studio and the main entrance, I planned the small studio as an open space and between both studios placed a glass partition. In choosing the materials, I made sure to maintain good acoustics and quality insulation between the larger studio and the open space. The program also included showers, a reception desk with a small kitchen and two private rooms for treatments and nutritional consultations. The treatment room needed to have a window and I was requested to distance it as much as possible from the large studio. In addition to the detailed program, I received a list of all the necessary equipment. Other than certain plumbing restrictions, I enjoyed complete artistic and creative freedom.

The original logo and branding were transformed and received a fresh and new interpretation and color scheme with grey and yellow at its core. I created a concept of an industrial urban style with fresh and edgy vibes and incorporated elements that references the streets of a big metropolitan city such as New York. With that said, the design can still be defined as minimalistic because of the meticulously designed details. The ceiling of the entire studio was painted in black and the floor was covered in concrete with street-like markings in yellow that simplify orientation for the visitors. Exposed building block walls were incorporated throughout the space, requiring a creative planning of the electric and plumbing systems and precise execution to keep them intact. The new logo was hung on one of these walls near the main entrance. Delicate backlighting highlights it and enhances its three-dimensional effect.

In front of the custom-made reception desk, I placed a yellow street bench and three elongated lighting fixtures, created from black painted pipes. The reception is made entirely out of black iron. Plants that add vitality and liveliness to the space were hung above it, and by the bar area are yellow iron bar stools. Next to the desk is an open shelving unit for towels and other items that I designed, and it is made from black iron and net. Graphic elements such as typography and icons were incorporated in different areas of the space, such as on the reception desk. For this typographic element I chose to create a three-dimensional effect, using bright, yellow-colored letters and a black net placed in front of them. On the right-hand side of the reception area, I planned a hallway and a partition made out of a black net. Both hide the entrance to the treatment rooms and create a more intimate and private setting. Diagonal lighting strips that were integrated into the walls and ceiling, accompany the trainers along the hallway. The signs for the two treatment rooms were handmade by me.

Lighting profiles designed in different shapes were incorporated in the different spaces of the project, such as above the pathway leading to the large studio. For the studio itself I created a composition of large quadrangular shapes in different sizes. Three of them were painted in black and one in yellow. In addition, I planned a hidden LED lighting strip behind the mirror, thus offering the trainers another lighting scenario and a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere. One of the exposed walls was used as a backdrop for hanging plants, which bring the outside in and add color and freshness to the space. The smaller studio is also defined by custom made lighting fixtures. There I designed them in the shape of a symmetric cross with a yellow connector in the center.

As I do for all my projects, private or commercial, the main design motifs and the material palette are repetitive throughout the different spaces. An example for this principal can be seen in the showers of this project, which were also designed in grey, yellow and black colors and demonstrate an industrial and urban style. Two iron bins painted in yellow are used as sinks, alongside garden faucets and exposed black pipes with handles that I hand painted in yellow. Above the sinks are two elongated black lighting fixtures and round frameless mirrors. The door frames of the showers were painted in yellow and the walls were covered in concrete-like tiling.

חדר כושר בנתניה בבעלותם של שני בחורים צעירים, שהתחילו את דרכם מסטודיו קטן לאימונים אישיים ופנו אלי כאשר הרחיבו את פעילותם ושכרו חלל של 260 מ״ר. החלל הקיים היה נקי לגמרי והוא חולק ותוכנן לפי הפרוגרמה שהוגדרה בתחילת הפרויקט. התבקשתי לתכנן שני סטודיואים – אחד קטן לאימונים אישיים ואחד גדול לאימונים קבוצתיים. מפני שהתבקשתי לוודא כי נשמר קשר עין בין הסטודיו הקטן לבין הכניסה ובין שני הסטודיואים, תכננתי את הסטודיו הקטן כחלל פתוח ובינו לבין הסטודיו הגדול תכננתי מחיצת זכוכית. בבחירת החומרים וידאתי כי נשמרת אקוסטיקה טובה ובידוד איכותי בין הסטודיו הגדול לבין החלל הפתוח. בנוסף כללה הפרוגרמה מקלחות, עמדת קבלה עם מטבחון קטן וחדרים לייעוץ תזונתי ולטיפולים, כאשר בחדר הטיפולים התבקשתי לוודא כי יש חלון ולמקמו רחוק ככל האפשר מהסטודיו הגדול. בתחילת הדרך קיבלתי רשימה מפורטת של כל הציוד שצריך להשתלב בחלל ומלבד אילוצי אינסטלציה של המבנה היה לי חופש מוחלט לייצר קונספט ושפה עיצובית.

השפה הגרפית והלוגו הקיימים שונו וקיבלו פרשנות חדשה וצבעוניות מרעננת שבמרכזה גווני צהוב ואפור. הגדרתי סגנון עיצובי תעשייתי, צעיר, הומוריסטי וניו יורקי ובעיצוב שילבתי אלמנטים שמכניסים את הרחוב ואת החוץ פנימה. יחד עם זאת העיצוב מאוד מינימליסטי ומוקפד וכל פרט טופל במלוא תשומת הלב. תקרת חדר הכושר נצבעה בשחור והרצפה חופתה בבטון מוחלק. מעליה סימוני דרך בצהוב בהשראת הרחוב, אשר מקלים על ההתמצאות במרחב. בחלל שולבו קירות בלוקים חשופים במראה מחוספס שדרשו תכנון יצירתי של מערכות האינסטלציה והחשמל על מנת להשאירם אסתטיים וללא חציבות. כמו כן נדרשה עבודת ביצוע קפדנית של הקבלן. על אחד מקירות הבלוקים באזור הכניסה נתלה הלוגו המחודש ומאחוריו מוקמה תאורה מעודנת שמדגישה את האפקט התלת מימדי של הטיפוגרפיה.

מול עמדת הקבלה, שתוכננה בהתאמה אישית, הצבתי ספסל רחוב צהבהב ולידו שלושה גופי תאורה מאורכים מצינורות מושחרים. העמדה עשויה כולה מברזל שחור, מעליה נתלו עציצים שמוסיפים חיוניות ורעננות לחלל ובאזור הבר הוצבו רביעיית כיסאות בר מברזל צהוב. לצד העמדה תכננתי יחידת מידוף פתוחה מברזל מושחר בשילוב רשת, לאחסון מגבות ואביזרים נוספים. טקסטים ואייקונים שולבו בכל מני פינות בחלל, כמו למשל על גבי עמדת הקבלה, שם בחרתי לצבוע את הטקסטים בצהוב ולייצר אפקט תלת מימדי על ידי האותיות עצמן וחזית רשת מושחרת. לצד הקבלה תכננתי מסדרון המצניע את המעבר לחדרי הטיפולים ויוצר תחושה אינטימית ופרטית יותר, הכניסה אליו מוגדרת על ידי מחיצת רשת שחורה. פרופיל תאורה שקוע בקירות ובתקרה, שתוכנן בקווים אלכסוניים, מלווים את המתאמנים לאורך המסדרון. את שלטי החדרים יצרתי עבור הסטודיו בעבודת יד.

פרופיל תאורה בצורות שונות שולבו בכל חללי הסטודיו, כמו למשל מעל השביל המוביל לסטודיו הגדול. בסטודיו עצמו יצרתי מהפרופילים גופי תאורה מרובעים גדולי ממדים במידות שונות שנתלו בהבדלי גבהים. שלושה מתוכם נצבעו בשחור ואחד מהם הובלט ונצבע בצהוב. בנוסף תכננתי סביב המראה תאורת לד שמאפשרת החשכה חלקית של הסטודיו ליצירת אווירה רגועה ושקטה יותר. על גבי קיר הבלוקים בסטודיו נתלו עציצים עם צמחים שמכניסים את תחושת החוץ פנימה ומוסיפים צבע ורעננות למרחב. גם את הסטודיו הקטן מגדירים גופי תאורה מיוחדים, שם תכננתי גופים בצורת צלב שבמרכזו מאחז שנצבע בצהוב.

כפי שאני מקפידה לעשות בכל הפרויקטים שלי, פרטיים ומסחריים כאחד, השפה העיצובית והחומרית חוזרת על עצמה בכל החללים. ניתן לראות זאת גם בחדרי הרחצה, שעוצבו גם הם בגווני אפור, שחור וצהוב ובמראה תעשייתי ואורבני. שני פחי ברזל שנצבעו בצהוב הוסבו לכיורים ולצידם הוצבו ברזי גינה וצינורות חשופים מושחרים עם ידיות שצבעתי באופן אישי בצהוב. מעל הכיורים נתלו שני גופי תאורה מאורכים בצבע שחור ומראות עגולות במראה נקי ללא מסגרת. המשקופים בכניסה למקלחונים נצבעו בצהוב ואת הקירות מחפים אריחים במראה בטון משופשף.
