A woman in her 70s let go of her previous house in favor of a luxurious high-rise apartment in Ir Yamim, Israel, and contacted me to personalize the space for her style and needs. We chose a contrasting color palette, which was accomplished using large and light-colored surfaces mixed with bolder choices, such as walnut wood, attention-grabbing wallpapers, hints of gold and natural textures. We enter the apartment in front of the kitchen. To our left is the dining area and to our right is the living room, which faces a large window and a balcony with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea. To allow the owner to enjoy this magnificent view, I positioned the sofa to face the window. Brushed oak coffee tables in a rough finish and leather clean-lined armchairs were chosen to accentuate it.

 

Oftentimes in my projects, I choose to hide and conceal the doors in order to create uniformity in the space and produce clean and seamless walls. In this project, a storage area near the living room was transformed into a home office and incorporated into the space with the help of a tall door, which was concealed in a custom-made wooden wall. The wall was covered in a combination of veneer and marble-like tiling, and it was designed to include storage, open shelves and a TV screen. Golden lighting fixtures decorate the wall and a thin gap detail between the lowered ceiling and the wall frames the space and creates a prestigious and elevated look. On the balcony, I chose wood covering for both the floor and the walls to introduce an intimate and cozy atmosphere. An exterior seating area was positioned there, alongside a small bar facing the view, joyful touches of color and artwork that I personally made.

 

In the dining area, the lighting fixtures and one of my paintings were chosen to fit the owner’s love of curvy lines and amorphic shapes. The painting blends perfectly with the warm color palette and natural texture of the walnut, which was used to cover the back wall. Around the dining table and by the kitchen counter, upholstered chairs in black and white were placed, and another painting of mine was chosen for the kitchen wall, to highlight their pattern. The wooden wall that defines the dining area adds depth to the space and conceals an additional door that separates the public area of the apartment from its private areas.

 

For the bedroom, I wished to establish a unique yet pleasant color scheme, therefore I used two wallpapers – a bold one in khaki green tones that creates a background for the makeup table, and a dark one that was applied behind the khaki and light grey bed. To accommodate my client’s request for a proper place to apply makeup and do her hair, I designed a custom-made table with storage units at various heights. The vertically textured fronts emphasize the pattern of the wallpaper behind it. Behind the table, I placed a tall mirror and above it a lighting fixture to provide optimal makeup lighting conditions. To finish the design, I chose an upholstered khaki bench for the front of the bed, a couple of black and white artworks that I created and positioned by the large window, and brushed gold lighting fixtures in a greenish tone that mingle perfectly with the other elements in the room

אישה בשנות ה-70 לחייה עזבה בית פרטי לטובת דירת יוקרה במגדלי בריגה שבעיר ימים ופנתה אלי כדי להתאים את החלל לצרכיה ולסגנונה האישי. בחרנו בצבעוניות קונטרסטית המתאפשרת בעזרת משטחים בהירים רחבים לצד חיפויים נועזים יותר כמו עץ אגוז אמריקאי, טפטים עשירים, נגיעות של גווני זהב וטקסטורות במראה טבעי. הכניסה לבית ממוקמת מול המטבח, משמאלה פינת האוכל ומימינה הסלון, הפונה לחלון גדול, שמעברו השני מרפסת עם נוף מרהיב לים. כדי שבעלת הדירה תוכל להנות מהנוף המרשים, מיקמתי ספת עור רחבה מול החלון. לספה התאמתי שולחנות מעץ אלון מוברש עם מרקם מחוספס וכורסאות עור שחורות בקווים נקיים.

כמעט בכל הפרויקטים שלי אני בוחרת להסתיר ולהצניע את הדלתות על מנת לייצר מראה הומוגני וקירות נקיים והמשכיים ככל הניתן. בפרויקט הזה, מחסן שהיה ממוקם לצד הסלון הפך לחדר עבודה ושולב כחלק אינטגרלי מהבית בעזרת דלת גבוהה שהוטמעה בקיר נגרות. הקיר חופה בפורניר טבעי בשילוב חיפוי דמוי שיש כהה והוא כולל אחסון סגור, מדפי תצוגה פתוחים וטלוויזיה. גופי תאורה מוזהבים מעטרים את קיר הסלון ופסי ניתוק לאורך התקרה המונמכת מייצרים מראה מוקפד ויוקרתי וממסגרים את החלל. במרפסת בחרתי בחיפוי עץ עבור הרצפה והקירות, המשרה אווירה חמימה ואינטימית. מוקמו בה פינת ישיבה סלונית, בר קטן הפונה לנוף הפתוח, נגיעות צבע משמחות ועבודת אמנות שיצרתי בעצמי.

בעלת הבית אוהבת מאוד קווים מעוגלים וצורות אמורפיות ובהתאם נבחרו גופי התאורה וציור נוסף שלי שנתלה בפינת האוכל. הציור מתחבר באופן מושלם גם לצבעוניות החמה ולטקסטורה הטבעית של עץ האגוז המחפה את הקיר. סביב שולחן האוכל ולאורך הדלפק במטבח הוצבו כיסאות מרופדים בגווני שחור ולבן ולהם התאמתי ציור נוסף בעבודת ידי שנתלה על הקיר במטבח. קיר העץ המגדיר את פינת האוכל יוצר עומק בחלל וכן מסתיר דלת נוספת, המפרידה בין החלל הציבורי של הדירה לבין האגף הפרטי.

בחדר השינה היה לי חשוב לייצר צבעוניות ייחודית ויחד עם זאת נעימה לעין, ולכן שילבתי בין שני טפטים – טפט נועז בגווני ירוק חאקי שמגדיר את אזור הטיפוח, וטפט כהה שמהווה רקע למיטה, גם היא בגוון חאקי בשילוב אפור בהיר. בעקבות בקשת הלקוחה לפינת איפור וטיפוח, תכננתי רהיט בהתאמה אישית המורכב מיחידות אחסון בגבהים משתנים ובטקסטורה אנכית המדגישה את דוגמת הטפט. מאחורי הרהיט מיקמתי מראה גבוהה ומעליה גוף תאורה, על מנת לייצר תנאי תאורה נכונים ומיטביים לאיפור. את עיצוב חדר השינה משלימים ספסל מרופד בירוק חאקי שהוצב לפני המיטה, יצירות שלי בשחור לבן שנתלו ליד החלון הגדול וגופי תאורה בגימור זהב מוברש ובגוון ירקרק, המתחבר לגוון החאקי שחוזר באלמנטים שונים בחדר..
